Iwami Ginzan

I have tried to get to Iwami Ginzan before but the weather got in the way. Today was a beautiful day so this time I made it. Iwami Ginzan is an old silver mining district and is on the UNESCO world heritage list. They started mining silver here in 1526 and was one of the world's major silver mine for 400 years. At it's peak Japan accounted for around a third of the world's silver production (most of the rest of silver came from the Spanish controlled silver mines in South America)
