She caught up!

As I was leaving the area with the cycad tunnel. The woman in orange was running up the road towards me. When I first passed her was about 10 km back and she covered that distance in around 30 or 40 minutes!
Okay did a bit of a search and there is a Ekiden training camp on Tokunoshima so she probably belongs to that. Ekiden is a long distance relay foot race.

    And this event is big and important enough to have special training camps for the competitors??!!

    Apparently. Sports are popular in Japan and it seems that training camps are reasonably common.
